@natashar Natasha! Oh my gosh, I cried buckets when you were lost in Endgame.
@lakesideliberal T’Challa! Man, your movie is one of my favorites to this day. One of my all-time favorite movie lines: “We must all find a way to care for one another as if we were members of one single tribe.” 💯
@1WarMachine great to see you on here, sir! I feel that I don’t know nearly as much about you as I would like. I’m going to have to do some catching up in the coming weeks, I guess.
I think my favorite scene of yours is with Nebula in the Temple of the Power Stone 😂, when she says, “I wasn’t always like this, you know,” and you respond, “Neither was I. I guess we all just do the best we can with what we have.”
I found that moment very relatable.
@SteveRogers truly an honor, sir! 🤩 Both your character on screen, and your activism, etc. on social media, are quite an inspiration.
Throughout the MCU storyline, you never give up. Even when facing seemingly impossible odds. I have a feeling that we’re all going to need a lot more of that kind of courage in the days to come.
@uyakon @IronMan @SteveRogers As I see it, the most important quality of a superhero is their character. And as I continue to learn more about what everyone in #HeroesResist is doing, the more impressed I am.
You guys are heroes/heroines in real life, not just in the movies. May you inspire many more to follow your lead.
@IronMan Mr. Stark, sir, it’s an honor.
I am a huge MCU geek. Started watching when the first Avengers movie was in theaters, back in 2012. And I was hooked.
I’ll admit it: It took me a while to warm up to you. @SteveRogers was my favorite for the longest time lol. But as Iron Man 3 progressed (which I’ve still only seen part of; gotta get on that) followed by Spider-Man: Homecoming, Infinity War, and especially Endgame, I was like: OK, this guy really is a hero.
I'm finding John Legend's new song, Conversations in the Dark, to be just the thing for my PTSD: https://youtu.be/qUD2GxTeVcI A new friend, who has also experienced some trauma in the past, said that this song was "like a warm hug." 🤗
To survivors of #ReligiousTrauma, worldwide: I wish you healing, and a deep sense of wholeness, and the best that life can possibly offer you. May 2020 be your year.
To victims of #oppression here in the #UnitedStates: I see you. I hear you. You are not forgotten. Women; Blacks; Latinx; Native; LGBTQA+; Jews; Muslims; journalists; veterans; people with disabilities, physical or otherwise; and so many more. May good things come to all of us.
A mis amigos en #Latinoamérica, sufriendo desastres económicos, digo: Os escucho. Voy a ayudar como puedo.
To my friends, the beautiful #Kurdish people, wherever you live around the world, I have a message for you:
Metirse.
Don’t be afraid. You have more friends than you might think.
Quote from #StarWars #TheRiseOfSkywalker: "They win by making us think we're alone."
You are not alone. I don't care you who you are, or where you're from, or any of that. If you are genuinely trying to be a decent person, then you have friends in many places, including me.
#introduction Hello, and welcome! I am a TCK (Third Culture Kid). My life experiences range all the way from living in a thatched-roof hut in the jungle, to a high-paying tech career in California.
Recently, I have come full circle, and realized that the people of the tribal village I grew up in, in the South American jungle, remain some of the best friends I ever had. My username, Uyakon, is taken from their language. It means "little brother."
Peace,
Uyakon
